I was inspired by the recent events happening in Colombia. A tax reform triggered a whole social movement to protest against the government; not only because of the unfair tax reform that was going to benefit the rich and powerful corporations, but also the inequality and the murders of social leaders throughout the entire country. During the peaceful protests the police has systematically attacked the population where many have been injured and even killed. In some parts of the country protesters have gone missing and their bodies have appeared in different locations floating in rivers and lakes, some bodies have even been found dismembered. I believe that artists have the social responsibility to depict current events and to let their voices be heard, even if they don’t have a big group of followers or viewers. People need from other countries need to know what is going on, but also us artists document should history so future generations don’t forget.
